A very warm welcome to our Sheltering Place St James' Catholic School.

St James' Catholic School is a year 1 to 6 Catholic Integrated primary school that offers a Catholic education to up to 270 children. It is centrally located in Hokowhitu, Palmerston North and is the Parish School for the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 197 Broadway Avenue. The school is a Roman Catholic School in which the whole community, through the general school programme and its religious education and observances, exercises the right to live and teach the values of Jesus Christ.

St James' is a family school where interests and values are shared by staff, parents, students, wider family and our parish St Patricks

.
Our Mission is to nurture individual growth in our Catholic Learning Community by continuing to develop excellent, contemporary educational practice.
As a staff we are committed to delivering quality teaching and learning programmes based on a relationship with learners and their families and on their needs, interests and abilities.

Children receive a broad education through a balanced curriculum covering the eight essential learning areas, religious education as the ninth. Priority is given to the development of high levels of competency in literacy and numeracy, with a school wide emphasis on the development of formative practice, learning how to learn across all curriculum areas.

Our Vision is to prepare our students for the next steps in their life of learning and participation in society, supported by their faith/whakapono and understanding of Catholic Living. We will nurture our students to become SUPER Achievers.

Values

Our SUPER Achievers are living witnesses of Jesus' example of LOVE.  Our core Gospel values are  Self Control, Unity, Perseverance, Enthusiasm and Respect.  In short SUPER.
